CIPPEC, one of the best think tanks in the world, and national leader in economic and social policy

CIPPEC took sixth in the region in the 2015 edition of the index developed annually by the University of Pennsylvania. Also CIPPEC is once more the highest-ranked Argentinian institution in the global economic and social policy think tanks rankings.

CIPPEC has been recognized again as one of the best think tanks in Central and South America by the 2015 Global Go To Think Tanks Index. The study conducted annually by the University of Pennsylvania surveys more than 6500 institutions globally.

CARI and CIPPEC, which came fifth and sixth in the region respectively, presented the index in an event held today in Argentina. Among the speakers were Felix Peña, member of CARI’s Board of Directors; Juan Luis Bour, Chief Economist at FIEL; Guillermo Cruces from CEDLAS; and Julia Pomares, CIPPEC’s Executive Director. Journalist Roman Lejtman moderated the event. The index was released simultaneously in more than 85 cities around the world and was broadcast in social media with the hashtag #ThinkTanksMatter.

‘The problems public policy must address in the 21st century – from climate change to drug trafficking – are increasingly complex, and think tanks have adopted a central role in generating and spreading knowledge – applied, multidimensional knowledge’ said Julia Pomares, CIPPEC’s Executive Director.

Furthermore, CIPPEC was once more the highest-ranked Argentinian institution in the global rankings of social policy think tanks (13th) and economic policy think tanks (21st). This positions CIPPEC as regional leader in both fields, together with Brazil’s Fundación Getulio Vargas (FGV) in the social policy category. According to this index, CIPPEC also scores highly in the categories Best Think Tank Network and Best External Relations/Public Engagement Program, being the highest-ranked Argentinian institution in both categories.
