CIPPEC continues to monitor the advancement of Argentina´s National Evaluation Policy

A strong and coherent National Evaluation Policy (NEP) is key in leading public knowledge production and sharing across governments for improved decision making. Such policy has demonstrated, especially in the COVID-19 context, that robust and reliable evidence is key in order to face complex challenges as the ones emerging from the social, sanitary and economic crisis from this latest pandemic. The value of systematic knowledge today is bigger than ever.

CIPPEC has being monitoring Argentina´s National Evaluation Policy since 2015. Our work with national officials, international organizations and other civil society organizations has contributed to i) improved capacities at the subnational level; ii) raising awareness and fostering change like the adoption of a Monitoring and Evaluation Annual Plan for Social Programs, iii) engaging key and other stakeholders around the debate on the creation of a Federal Evaluation Agency, and iv) continuously supporting the National Evaluation Network Voluntary Organizations for Professional Evaluation (VOPEs)- EvaluAR.

CIPPEC also monitors and produces knowledge on national evaluation capacities. The latest policy brief, Federal Evaluation Agency: Institutional Background and Challenges (English version), written by Natalia Aquilino, Jimena Rubio y Maria Laffaire, builds on previous work, examines innovations made during the 2015-2019 period and identifies lessons learnt in strengthening and enabling monitoring environments, the national evaluation policy framework and institutional set-ups, as well as fostering further discussions for the strengthening of Argentina’s National Evaluation Policy and Capacities.
